President Gifts Apartment to Winner of World Greco-Roman Wrestling Championship
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The President of Uzbekistan has gifted an apartment to Greco-Roman wrestler Aytzhan Kholmakhanov, who became the country’s first world champion in this sport in the past 24 years, the press service of the Tashkent regional administration reported.
The athlete received a three-room apartment in Nurafshan, with the keys personally handed to him by the regional governor, Zoir Mirzaev. This year, the Uzbek national team won one gold, one silver, and three bronze medals at the World Championship.
Aytzhan Kholmakhanov competed in the under-63 kg weight category and defeated South Korean wrestler Chung Han-Jae in the final. His achievement marked Uzbekistan’s first gold medal in Greco-Roman wrestling at a world championship since 2001.
