President Congratulates Uzbek Para Athletes on Historic Victory at the 5th Asian Youth Para Games

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has extended his heartfelt congratulations to the members of the national sports delegation following their historic victory at the 5th Asian Youth Para Games in Dubai.

More than 1,500 athletes from 35 Asian countries took part in the competition, with Team Uzbekistan confidently securing first place in the overall medal standings by winning 99 gold, 57 silver, and 41 bronze medals.

The Head of State highlighted the outstanding contribution of the young athletes to the development of the Paralympic movement in the country, noting that the national anthem of Uzbekistan was played almost 100 times during the tournament, reflecting the high level of trust and support from the entire nation.

Mirziyoyev particularly emphasized the achievements of the para powerlifters, who set world records, as well as the para athletes who claimed a full set of medals in shot put and javelin throw events, leaving their competitors without any chance.

The President stressed that such results were made possible by the athletes’ talent, perseverance, and professionalism, as well as by the consistent state policy aimed at supporting the Paralympic movement.

He pointed to the establishment of the National Agency for Social Protection, the Association of Adaptive Sports, the School of Courage, and a specialized institute for training professionals in this field as key steps taken to advance adaptive and Paralympic sports.

Currently, Uzbekistan has 89 adaptive sports disciplines, with more than 45,000 people regularly engaged in them.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev expressed gratitude to the athletes’ parents, coaches, and all supporters for their encouragement, emphasizing that recent reforms will create additional opportunities for further achievements by para athletes.

The President wished the young champions good health and new victories, noting that their accomplishments have become a source of pride and inspiration for millions of compatriots.
