President approves measures to improve activities of State Statistics Committee

Uzbek leader determined the priority directions of activity of the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Statistics and its territorial divisions for 2017-2021.

State Statistics Committee was instructed to adapt the system of statistical observations to the generally accepted international practice by introducing modern methodologies and techniques for collecting and processing statistical data, aimed at expanding the coverage of the socio-economic processes under study at the macroeconomic, sectoral and regional levels.

According to the document, State Statistics Committee will ensure maximum transparency and openness of statistical information for a wide range of domestic and foreign users.

The Committee will prepare statistical information, which best describes development of industries and spheres of the national economy and territories, etc.

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev approved a program of measures to radically improve the efficiency of the organization of statistical activities, improve the quality of statistical information and the system of its dissemination for 2017-2021.

Uzbek President assigned the chairman of the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan and his deputies personal responsibility for ensuring the timely and high-quality implementation of the activities, included to the program.

The document said that the State Statistics Committee is headed by the chairman, who is approved by the President of Uzbekistan on the proposal of the Prime Minister of Uzbekistan. President also dismisses head of the State Statistics Committee from office.

Deputy Chairmen of the State Statistics Committee are appointed and dismissed by the President of Uzbekistan, it added.
