Presentation of the Multi-Partner Trust Fund for Aral takes place in Germany

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- At the initiative of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Germany, within the framework of the 12th Annual Conference of the German Water Partnership organization in Berlin, a multi-partner trust fund for human security for the Aral Sea region, created under the auspices of the UN at the end of last year, was presented.

The German Water Partnership was created in 2008 on the initiative of the German government. It brings together over 350 specialized companies, unions and research institutions dealing with water management issues. The organization is a platform for German and foreign partners from the water industry to discuss problems in this area and develop mutually acceptable solutions involving modern innovative ideas and technologies, as well as financial resources.

As part of its activities, the German Water Partnership works closely with ministries and departments, as well as various specialized agencies in Germany, including the KfW Development Bank, the German Society for International Cooperation GIZ, the Potsdam Institute for Climate Research PIK and others.

The Republic of Uzbekistan was represented at the forum by a delegation led by the First Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, Zhusipbek Kazbekov.

The participants of the event were provided with detailed information on the goals, objectives and activities of the Multi-Partner Human Rights Trust Fund for the Aral Sea region established at the initiative of Uzbekistan and with the support of the United Nations, as well as the possibilities of interaction within its framework.

As is known, the main goal of the Trust Fund is to create a single platform for international cooperation and mobilization of donor community funds in order to improve the ecological and socio-economic situation in the Aral Sea region, as well as to promote joint efforts to achieve global sustainable development goals. In addition, the Trust Fund is designed to help attract new knowledge, innovative solutions and technologies in the Aral Sea region in order to ensure the sustainable development of the region.

In turn, the leadership of the German Water Partnership expressed its readiness to establish close cooperation with Uzbekistan to promote the development of the water sector of the republic, particularly in the Aral Sea region. In this regard, the organization’s leadership noted a willingness to implement relevant projects in Uzbekistan with the involvement of German companies.

As part of the event, the delegation of Uzbekistan also held bilateral talks with representatives of the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development, the Federal Ministry of Ecology, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety, the East Committee of the German Economy, as well as the leadership of German Water Partnership and a number of German organizations and companies.

Following the event, some participants shared their views and assessments regarding the prospects for the development of cooperation with Uzbekistan.
