Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Power Machines delivered the poles of hydroelectric generator No. 3 to the Farhad hydroelectric power station, and proceeded with the installation of equipment for hydraulic units No. 1 and 3.
Installation of generator units, turbine impeller, replacement of the impeller chamber will be performed at hydraulic unit No. 1.
A turnkey contract for the modernization of the Farhad HPP was concluded between Power Machines PJSC and Uzbekhydroenergo in 2017. In accordance with its terms, four hydroelectric units will be upgraded with an increase in the total capacity of hydroelectric power plants by 11.4% - from 114 to 127 MW. In addition, the efficiency of two rotary-blade hydraulic turbines will be increased by 4.8% and two radial-axial - by 5.1%. The life of hydraulic units after modernization will be 40 years.
All the main equipment for the modernization of hydroelectric power plants is manufactured by the St. Petersburg power machine-building enterprises that are part of Power Machines PJSC, the Leningrad Metal Plant and the Electrosila Plant.
Currently, hydraulic equipment for the modernization of hydraulic units No. 1, 3, 4, transformer equipment and automated process control systems have been fully manufactured and delivered to the Farhad hydroelectric station. The production of generator and turbine equipment for hydraulic unit No. 2 is nearing completion.
Implementation of the project, the completion of which is scheduled for 2021, will allow the hydroelectric power station to increase annual electricity production by 84 million kWh to 531.2 million kWh per year.
At present, Power Machines are implementing a number of hydropower projects in Uzbekistan, including the manufacture and supply of a new pre-turbine butterfly valve with an automatic control system for hydraulic unit No. 4 of the Charvak hydroelectric power station. Also in the work are projects for the construction of small hydroelectric power stations on the Dargom canal (SHPP at picket 102 + 00 and SHPP Bogishamol), projects for the construction of the Nizhnechatkalskaya HPP and the modernization of the Tupalangskaya HPP.
