Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 8 March, in the format of a video conference, negotiations were held between the Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov with the Adviser to the Prime Minister of Pakistan on Commerce, Textile Industry and Investments Abdul Razzak Davud dedicated to the discussion of topical issues of bilateral cooperation and the current state of implementation of mutual agreements in trade and economic, transport and logistics, cultural and humanitarian spheres.
The negotiations were also attended by the leadership of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Transport and Uzbekiston Temir Yollari.
The main attention within the agenda was paid to the practical aspects of interaction on the implementation of the project for the construction of the Mazar-i-Sharif - Kabul - Peshawar railway. During the discussion, the existing issues were comprehensively considered, mutually acceptable solutions were developed, and further steps were identified to accelerate the implementation of the project.
Also during the dialogue, the prospects for expanding the Uzbek-Pakistani partnership in the field of trade, investment, industrial cooperation, transport, education, health care and culture were discussed. In this context, the parties considered a number of joint investment projects under development in the fields of energy, chemical industry, agricultural processing and other promising areas.
An analysis was made of the ongoing work on the development of draft agreements on mutual encouragement and protection of investments, agreements on preferential trade and a number of other bilateral documents aimed at strengthening investment and trade and economic cooperation between the two countries. An agreement was reached to intensify interaction in this direction and further steps were outlined to accelerate the elaboration of these documents.
They also discussed issues related to the organization and holding of the 6th meeting of the Uzbek-Pakistani Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic and Scientific and Technical Cooperation, as well as the Business Council with the participation of representatives of the business circles of both countries, which will be held in Tashkent in July this year. of the year. It was noted that these events will be a significant step in the development of bilateral economic partnership.
Following the talks, the parties stressed their mutual commitment to the implementation of all the agreements reached and developed a plan of priority measures to accelerate the advancement of joint projects and initiatives.
