According to the Ministry of Justice, 375,192 boys and 346,894 girls were born in Uzbekistan.
The largest number of births in 2017 was recorded in Samarkand region – 89,637 births, which is 12.4% of total number of births. About 14,992 births or 2% was registered in Namangan city.
Number of born boys increased by 3,395 or 9.4% in Kashkadarya region compared to other regions of Uzbekistan.
During the year, 14,382 twins were born (1.9% of the total number of births) and 138 triplets in Uzbekistan. A single case of quintuplets birth was recorded in Shahrihansky district of Andijan region.
The most popular name in 2017 for girls was Madina (5,678 children), for boys - Azizbek (5,674 children).
The heaviest weight of the newborn was 9.87 kg (girl), the longest height - 70 cm (boy).
