The SCO mission observed elections to the Legislative Chamber of the Uzbek parliament on 19-22 December 2014 on invitation of the Central Election Commission (CEC).

The mission’s statement said that elections were transparent and open and complied to the legislation of Uzbekistan. Political parties and candidates have equal and wide opportunities to use mass media. The parties had chance to organize meetings with the voters independently.

The mission met with party officials, mass media and participated the CEC briefings. The mission visited polling stations in Tashkent city and Tashkent region to familiarize with the election process.

The mission visited 73 polling stations in Tashkent and Tashkent region, which were open from 06:00 to 20:00 Tashkent time on 21 December 2014.

The SCO mission said that the work of polling stations were organized in line with requirements of the election legislation of Uzbekistan and citizens of the country actively participated in the voting.

The mission said that observers from international organizations and 50 countries observed elections in Uzbekistan. There were no complaints from these observers.

Members of the mission also participated in closing of the polling stations and counting of ballots. The violations were not recorded during these processes as well.

The mission said that elections were held in line with the legislation of Uzbekistan and international commitments of the country.

According to the opinion of the mission, the elections were transparent and democratic. There was no violations, which would compromise the results of the voting.
