Harbin Power to modernize Angren thermal power station
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- China’s Harbin Electric International Company Ltd will build new 130-150 megawatt power generating unit at Angren thermal power station.

In September 2012, state joint stock company Uzbekenergo signed a contract with Harbin Electric International Company Ltd on realization of an investment project “Construction of 130-150 MW Power Generating Unit with heat extraction for high-ash coal burning at Angren thermal power station” on turn-key bases. The contract sum is US$226 million.

Total project cost is US$242.6 million. It will be financed due to loan of Chinese Eximbank for US$165.6 million and own resources of Uzbekenergo – US$75.1 million.

It is planned to launch new generation block in the first quarter of 2016. Annually it will produce 1,050 million KWH electricity and 624,200 Gcal heating energy.

The project will launch additional generation capacities due to introduction of modern technologies on burning coal. It will provide electricity and heating energy to new capacities at free industrial zone Angren. It will increase share of coal in fuel-energy balance and decrease negative impact of energy production to environment.

Angren thermal power station has been commission in 1967. The capacity of eight energy blocks is 484 megawatt. It uses coal as main fuel and mazut is a secondary fuel. It provides heating and power to enterprises and population of Tashkent region.
