Post of Deputy Minister of Foreign Trade on accession of Uzbekistan to the WTO established
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev made changes to the structure of the Ministry of Foreign Trade.
The head of Uzbekistan introduced the post of deputy minister of foreign trade on issues of Uzbekistan’s accession to the WTO, which is responsible for leading the negotiating group on the accession of Uzbekistan to the World Trade Organization (WTO), as well as improving customs and tariff regulation of foreign trade, optimizing imports, developing transport corridors and diversification of export routes.
The document also created two new departments: the Office for Coordination of Cooperation of the Republic of Uzbekistan with the World Trade Organization and the Office for the Coordination of Cooperation of the Republic of Uzbekistan with the World Trade Organization.
The Department of Coordination of Cooperation of the Republic of Uzbekistan with the World Trade Organization will collect and prepare a package of materials and documents necessary for the accession of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the WTO, as well as developing proposals for the adaptation of national legislation in accordance with the requirements of the WTO agreements.
The department is also entrusted with the tasks of participating in the negotiation process on Uzbekistan’s accession to the WTO, interaction with its secretariat, conclusion of bilateral and multilateral agreements in the field of foreign trade with foreign countries and international organizations. This department will coordinate the activities of the adviser-representative of Uzbekistan to the WTO and the first secretary for work with the structures of the WTO of the Permanent Mission of Uzbekistan to the UN Office and other international organizations in Geneva (Switzerland).
The Department of Promotion of Export of Products of Territories and Fruit and Vegetable Products, transformed from the Department for Promotion of Export of Products of Territories, has been entrusted with the task of providing practical assistance in the implementation of the export of fruits and vegetables by searching for potential partners.
The new department will create the conditions for access to traditional and new sales markets, as well as provide methodological support for the execution of export contracts. Other tasks of the division are maintaining and updating the list of leading foreign organizations importing fresh fruit and vegetable products.
