Positions of Chief Psychiatrist and Chief Suicidologist are introduced in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Presidential resolution “On approval of the concept of development of mental health services for the population of the Republic of Uzbekistan for 2019–2025” was adopted.

The resolution approved the Concept of development of the mental health care service of the population of the Republic of Uzbekistan for 2019–2025, as well as comprehensive measures for its implementation.

Among the main objectives of the Concept are  improvement of the quality of administration, the formation of an effective system of interaction of the psychiatric service with state and non-governmental organizations in the interests of persons suffering from mental disorders;

Posts “Chief Psychiatrist of the Republic of Uzbekistan” and “Chief Suicidologist of the Republic of Uzbekistan” were included to the list of posts of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

It has been established that persons suffering from mental disorders in the provision of mental health care to them are entitled to receive free legal assistance.

The law of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On Psychiatric Assistance” will be developed in a new edition, which envisages a clear delineation of the functions and powers of the authorized state bodies in the field of mental health care.
