Pioneer of French Electronic Music Jean-Michel Jarre to Perform in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — French musician and pioneer of electronic music Jean-Michel Jarre will perform live for the first time in Uzbekistan. The concert will take place on 1 November at Registan Square in Samarkand.

The event is organized with the support of the Uzbekistan Culture and Arts Development Foundation within the framework of the 43rd UNESCO General Conference, which is being held outside Paris for the first time in 40 years, reaffirming Samarkand’s status as a global hub of dialogue and creativity.

“Samarkand has long been a crossroads of cultures,” noted Jarre, a long-time UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador. “Performing at Registan Square is a unique honor, and I hope this concert will reflect the spirit of exchange and creativity that the city embodies.”

Jean-Michel Jarre is renowned for his large-scale outdoor performances.

In 1979, he gathered a record audience of over one million people at Place de la Concorde in Paris for Bastille Day — a record he went on to surpass three more times.

Among his iconic concerts are performances in China (1981), Houston, USA, in honor of Texas’s 150th anniversary (1986), London Docklands (1988), and, more recently, in the Hall of Mirrors at Versailles to mark the 400th anniversary of the palace.
