Phone Thief Apprehended in Bukhara After Causing Traffic Accident While Fleeing
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 14 September, a resident of Bukhara District, X.S., reported to the “102” emergency service that an unknown individual responding to his advertisement to sell an iPhone had arrived in a white Nexia-3 vehicle with no license plates and tinted windows.
Under the pretext of retrieving money from the car, the assailant seized the phone, got behind the wheel, and fled the scene.
A “Perkhvat” (Interception) operation was immediately launched. During the operation, the vehicle was located on I. Karimov Street in Bukhara. The driver refused to comply with lawful orders from officers and, in an attempt to escape, damaged several other vehicles.
At 04:41, the driver, M.A., born in 2003 and a resident of the Foshun neighborhood of Bukhara, was apprehended.
A criminal case has been initiated against him under Articles 219, Part 2, and 166, Part 3, of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and he has been placed in pretrial detention.
