Permanent population of Uzbekistan reaches 33.9m people

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The permanent population of the Republic of Uzbekistan as of 1 January 2020 made up 33.9 million people and since the beginning of the year has increased by 650,300 people, or 2.0%, according to the Uzbek State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan.

The analysis by regions of the Republic showed that, as of 1 January 2020, the largest population was observed in Samarkand region -11.4% (the share of the total population of the Republic), Ferghana region - 11.1%, Kashkadarya region -9.7% and Andijan region - 9.2%.

According to preliminary data, as of 1 January 2020, 30.5% of the total resident population in the republic are people under working age, 58.9% - at working age and 10.6% - over working age.

In January-December 2019, 815.9 thousand children were registered (hereinafter referred to as live births), respectively, the birth rate per 1000 population was 24.3 per mille and, compared to the same period in 2018, increased by 1.0 per mille (for January - December 2018 - 23.3 per mille).

In January-December 2019, 155.0 thousand deaths were registered, respectively, the mortality rate was 4.6 per mille and, compared to the same period in 2018, decreased by 0.1 per mille (in January-December 2018-by 4.7 per mille).

Of the total number of registered deaths in January-December 2019, 60.3% died from diseases of the circulatory system, 10.0% - from neoplasms, 6.3% - from accidents, poisonings and injuries, 5.5% - from digestive diseases, 4.2% - from respiratory diseases, 1.4% - from infectious and parasitic diseases, and 12.3% - from other diseases.

The number of registered deaths of children under the age of 1 year was 7.4 thousand, of which 58.5% died from conditions occurring in the perinatal period, 18.7% - from respiratory diseases, 11.8% - from congenital anomalies, 2.7% - from infectious and parasitic diseases, 1.9% - from accidents, poisoning and injuries, 0.8% - from digestive diseases, 5.6% - from other diseases.

In January-December 2019, the natural population growth was 660.9 thousand people and, compared to the same period in 2018, increased by 47.3 thousand people (in January-December 2018 - by 613.6 thousand people).

During the period from January to December 2019, the registry office registered 310.9 thousand marriages. In the Republic, the marriage rate per 1000 population was 9.3 per mille.

The increase in registered marriages, compared to the same period in 2018, was observed in the Samarkand (3.4%), Khorezm (1.5%), Ferghana (1.4%) regions, the Republic of Karakalpakstan (1.3%) and Kashkadarya (1.3%) regions.

During the period from January to December 2019, the registry office registered 31.4 thousand divorces. In the Republic, the divorce rate per 1000 population was 0.9 per mille.

The growth of registered divorces, compared to the same period in 2018, was observed in the Andijan region (12.0%), the Republic of Karakalpakstan (7.5%), Samarkand (6.9%) and Navoi (5.5%) regions.

In January-December 2019, the number of arrivals was 158.8 thousand people (internal -156.3 thousand people, external-2.5 thousand people), and the number of departures -169.5 thousand people (internal -156.3 thousand people, external -13.2 thousand people).

The migration balance reached minus 10.7 thousand people and, in the same period of 2018, minus 14.7 thousand people.

The highest level of migration balance accounted for in Kashkadarya (minus 6.9 thousand people), Samarkand (minus 5.6 thousand people), Tashkent (minus 4.6) regions and the Republic of Karakalpakstan (minus 4.2 thousand people).

A positive migration balance was registered in Tashkent (plus 27.0). In term of regions in January-December 2019, the negative balance of external migration was observed in the Republic of Karakalpakstan - 3396 people, in the city of Tashkent - 2682 people, in the Tashkent region - 3312 people and in the Navoi region - 1234 people, which is higher than in other regions.

Positive balance of external migration was observed only in Ferghana region (54 people).
