This conference was held under the motto "From a valuable source - to research results." Sources meant journalistic funds that are stored in the National Library of Uzbekistan. The event was attended by specialists from the library, the National University, journalists and bloggers.
The head of the service of manuscripts, rare and special editions of the National Library addressed the audience. She noted that the fund of the Alisher Navoi National Library is of particular importance not only for Uzbekistan, but also for the entire Central Asian region. The fund of the manuscript service, rare and especially valuable publications contains more than twenty eight thousand unique books. The library also has a very rich collection of presses.
Also, along with printed copies, there are microfilms of the first Russian periodical in Turkestan - the newspaper Turkestan Vedomosti, which was published in 1870-1917. “Researchers in the history and literature of Central Asia visit our library to use these valuable sources, since they contain the most complete copies of newspaper editions that were issued during this period and which contain not only important information and statistics about socio-economic life, but also the opinions of contemporaries of those years about current events, which allows us to learn not only about facts, but also about echo interpretations, ”the specialist noted.

Speaking about the history of the appearance of the first private newspapers in Uzbek, Sanobar Shodmonova noted that such figures as Ashurali Zahiri, Munavvar Kari Abdurashidkhanov, Mahmudhuja Beibudiy, Obidjon Mahmudov actively participated in the organization and activities of the national press.
