Pedestrian Killed by Electric Bus and Car at Crosswalk in Tashkent
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 9 December, a pedestrian was fatally struck by an electric bus and a car on Islam Karimov Street in the Mirabad district of Tashkent, the State Traffic Safety Department reported.
According to the agency, the incident occurred around 22:30 at an unregulated pedestrian crossing. A Yutong electric bus hit the person while they were crossing the road. The impact threw the victim into the oncoming lane, where they were subsequently struck by a Haval car.
The pedestrian died at the scene from sustained injuries. A criminal case has been opened under Part 2 of Article 266 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan (violation of traffic safety rules or vehicle operation resulting in death). Investigative actions are ongoing.
