Passenger Detained at Tashkent Airport with Nine Undeclared iPhone 17 Devices
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A citizen of Uzbekistan arriving on a Doha–Tashkent flight was detained by officers of the Specialized Customs Complex “Tashkent-Aero” after attempting to bring in nine iPhone 17 smartphones worth an estimated 230 million soums without declaration.
According to the agency, the violation was uncovered during an operational inspection by the anti-smuggling unit in the general arrivals area of the capital’s airport. The passenger used the “green corridor” at customs control, but upon inspection of his personal belongings and luggage, customs officers discovered nine undeclared mobile phones.
The devices were seized and placed in temporary storage as physical evidence. Procedural documents were filed against the violator, and a customs investigation is underway.
