Passenger Car Imports in Uzbekistan in 2025: Electric Vehicles Lead, Gasoline and Hybrid Cars Lose Ground

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Total number of passenger cars imported into the country in 2025 rose by 7.1%, reaching 79,822 units compared to 74,505 in 2024, according to the State Customs Committee of Uzbekistan.

Despite the growth in physical volumes, the total import value decreased by 8.1%, amounting to US$1.17 billion versus US$1.28 billion in 2024.

The market was primarily driven by electric vehicles (EVs), which now form the backbone of car imports. In 2025, the number of EVs imported more than doubled, reaching 56,832 units. In monetary terms, the EV segment saw an even sharper increase: import value soared by 212%, from US$224.7 million in 2024 to US$701 million in 2025.

Meanwhile, conventional gasoline-powered cars continued to lose ground. Their imports fell almost 40% over the year, down to 19,871 units, while the total import value dropped from US$706.8 million to US$387.9 million.

The largest decline occurred in the hybrid segment (gasoline + electric motor). In 2025, only 3,017 hybrid cars were imported, nearly six times fewer than the 17,480 units recorded in 2024. Correspondingly, the import value fell from US$339.3 million to US$80.9 million.

Diesel passenger cars maintained minimal market presence. Although the number of imports grew from 22 to 102 units, the total import value nearly halved, amounting to US$2.65 million in 2025 compared to US$5.08 million a year earlier.
