Parliamentary inquiry - an effective form of control

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- At the next plenary meeting of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, deputies considered a number of bills related to the country's socio-political, cultural and educational life, as well as parliamentary requests to ministries and departments.

The law has entered into force. What about the performance?

As a representative body of power directly elected by the people, the parliament, in addition to the legislative function, exercises control over the activities of public authorities and governing bodies.

Legislative practice has its own procedure for sending parliamentary inquiries to officials of state and economic management bodies on the implementation of laws, state programs and other important issues within their powers.

In accordance with the Law on the Procedure for Serving Administrative Arrest, adopted on January 9, 2017, it should enter into force twenty-four months after its official publication.

What is the reason for this?

Since this measure of punishment is being applied for the first time, it was necessary to build special buildings - places of detention for persons with fixed terms of administrative arrest. Today, construction has been completed in Tashkent (150 places), Tashkent, Ferghana, Bukhara, Namangan and Kashkadarya regions (75 places), Andijan and Jizzakh regions (60 places).

And in Navoi, Syrdarya, Samarkand regions and the Republic of Karakalpakstan, construction work continues. In this regard, the Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan P. Bobozhonov, by the decision of the Legislative Chamber, sent a parliamentary request "On the status of work on the construction and reconstruction of special reception centers for persons subjected to administrative arrest."
