Parliamentary commission holds session in Tashkent
The parliamentary commission issued grants, subsidies and resources to implement social orders for 7 billion soums in 2013. The resources were issued to finance 278 projects, directed at strengthening of partnership among the NGOs and state bodies. Over 2,000 NGOs and other civil society institutes, working in environment protection, healthcare development, support of social vulnerable layers of population, education and others, were attracted to participate in implementation of the projects.
In 2014, the parliamentary commission is planning to increase financing of NGOs and civil society institutes by 17.1% compared to 2013. Over 48.8% of total issued sum will be issued to finance contests and finance projects via grants. The growth will make up 21.9% year-on-year.
It is planned to hold five contests to receive state grants, which will be directed at strengthening of health of future generation, support of NGOs, working in education, sport, healthcare, and other directions, mass media.
It is expected that over 1,000 NGOs and civil society institutes will participate in these contests.
It is expected that 17.1% of funds will be directed to implement projects directed at solving concrete social problems.
The parliamentary commission will also finance contests and forums of mass media in 2014, the session said. It was noted that 34.1% of resources will be used to finance activities of NGOs Association, Ecologic Movement of Uzbekistan, National Association of Electronic Mass Media of Uzbekistan, Public Fund on support and development independent mass media and information agencies, and others.
Overall, it is expected that the parliamentary commission will finance projects of over 2,500 NGOs and civil society institutes in 2014 with its grants, subsides and resources to finance social orders.
