Parliament Approves New Rules for E-Commerce and Digital Service Operators
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis has passed a bill aimed at improving the e-commerce sector. The document underwent its third reading following discussions, clarifications, and revisions that began after the first reading on 6 January 2026.
During preparations for the second reading, the bill was updated to clarify new areas included in the consumer turnover of e-commerce, such as electronic trading platforms, order aggregators, digital streaming services, and their operators. Definitions for cross-border e-commerce were established, along with requirements for the development of procedures governing its implementation.
The legislation introduces measures to increase transparency for consumers and protect their interests. In particular, e-commerce operators are required to ensure that customer reviews can be submitted, remain unaltered, and that the associated information is securely maintained.
The adoption of this law is aimed at reducing the shadow economy and improving the legal and commercial framework within the e-commerce sector.
