Over 93% of Uzbekistan’s Rural Population Now Has Internet Access
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — According to a household survey conducted by the National Statistics Committee, as of August 2025, 93.9% of residents in rural areas of Uzbekistan have access to the internet.
For comparison, the figure among the urban population stands at 94.3%, indicating that the gap in internet usage between urban and rural areas has nearly disappeared.
The statistics reflect a steady increase in digital accessibility in rural regions. In 2021, 72.3% of rural residents used the internet, rising to 81.8% in 2022, 87.6% in 2023, and reaching 92.6% by 2024.
A similar trend is observed in cities: 79.4% of urban residents were online in 2021, 86.1% in 2022, 90.4% in 2023, and 94% by 2024.
The expansion of internet access in rural areas underscores efforts to develop telecommunications infrastructure and digital services, aimed at reducing the digital divide across the country’s regions.
