Over 68,800 people pardoned in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Over 68,800 people were pardoned in Uzbekistan in line with the resolution of the Senate of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan “On amnesty in connection with the 20th anniversary of adoption of the Constitution of Uzbekistan from 5 December 2012, the intergovernmental meeting at the Prosecutor-General’s Office said.

The meeting considered execution of the resolution and issues related work of authorized persons in the process of implementation of the document.

The session underlined that about 68,809 people were pardoned in line with the document, of them 42,640 persons were released from criminal responsibility and punishment.

At the same time, jail terms of 26,160 persons were decreased. The financial aids for 897 million soums were issued.

During the meeting, the participants considered shortages and violations in work of special territorial commissions on amnesty, judicial and law enforcement bodies.

The session determined tasks on clear and single implementation of the amnesty documents in future and strengthening cooperation among judicial and law enforcement bodies to prevent violations of the laws.
