Over 671,600 people apply to labour agencies in 2010

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Over 671,600 persons applied to labor agencies for employment in 2010, which is 2% more than in January-December 2009, the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan said.

As of the end of December 2010, the number of citizens registered through labor agencies as those who are looking for a job was 16,200 persons versus 20,100 persons as of the end of December 2009.

The greatest number of citizens registered through labor agencies as those who are looking for a job was observed in Tashkent city – 3,500 persons (21.4% of the total number of persons registered in labor agencies), Ferghana region – 1,900 persons (11.8%), Bukhara region – 1,400 persons (8.9%), Kashkadarya region – 1,300 persons (8.1%) and Surkhandarya region – 1,100 persons (6,9%).

In January-December 2010, about 595,600 persons were placed in jobs with the assistance of labor agencies (88.7% of all persons applied to labor agencies for employment during this period), which was 2.7 percentage points more than in January-December 2009.
