Over 5.8 Million Illegal Fireworks Seized in Ferghana Region

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Authorities in the Ferghana region have intercepted a large illegal shipment of fireworks.

Operational units of the Ferghana Regional Customs Directorate, together with the State Security Service and law enforcement agencies, identified over 5.8 million units of fireworks and firecrackers circulating illegally.

During the operation, a cargo truck under surveillance was inspected in Ferghana district in the presence of witnesses, revealing two types of pyrotechnic products totaling more than 2.3 million units.

Additionally, a search of the property to which the vehicle was headed uncovered another 3.4 million fireworks and firecrackers.

The total seized products, imported illegally and lacking quality certificates, exceeded 5.8 million units, with an estimated value of around 1.3 billion soums.

A criminal case has been initiated by the customs authorities in connection with the incident.
