Over 300 Scooter and Moped Accidents Reported in Uzbekistan in First Eight Months of 2025

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — More than 300 road traffic accidents involving scooters and mopeds were recorded in Uzbekistan during the first eight months of 2025, the head of the Traffic Safety Department (TSD) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Zoir Yuldoshev, said.

According to his data, 53 people died and 259 were injured as a result of these accidents. Yuldoshev emphasized that these figures clearly demonstrate the need for scooter and moped drivers to strictly follow traffic rules and register their vehicles. Neglecting these requirements can lead to tragic consequences, he noted.

The TSD representative reminded that owners of mopeds and scooters are required to obtain state license plates and category A driver’s licenses. The deadline for meeting these requirements has been extended to 1 October 2025. After this date, failure to comply will result in administrative penalties.

For those who already hold a category B or other type of driver’s license, attendance at a driving school is not required.

Category A licenses can be obtained by passing theoretical and practical exams, Yuldoshev explained.
