Over 20 kg of Drugs Seized in Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Over the past few days, a total of 20.2 kilograms of narcotic substances have been seized in Kashkadarya and Tashkent regions, as well as in the city of Tashkent.
In Tashkent region, during joint operational-search activities by the State Security Service and Customs authorities, a resident of Tashkent born in 1984 was detained.
He was found in possession of 4 kilograms 935 grams of the synthetic drug “Alpha-PVP,” previously hidden by drug couriers in a field in the Akhangaran district. Investigation revealed that the detainee acted as a “stash manager” in an online drug network: receiving large batches of narcotics from secret caches (“stash points”) and dividing them for further delivery to various regions of the country.
In the Yangihayot district of Tashkent, the State Security Service detained a resident of the Almazar district, born in 1981, who had previously been convicted of drug-related crimes. Examination of his utility bag in the presence of witnesses revealed 9 kilograms 829 grams of “hashish,” which were confiscated as evidence.
In Kashkadarya region, in the city of Karshi, a resident born in 1959 was discovered during a joint search operation by the State Security Service and law enforcement authorities. He was storing 4 kilograms 652 grams of “opium,” 380 grams of “hashish,” and 492 grams of “marijuana” for subsequent sale, which had been previously delivered from a neighboring country.
Criminal proceedings have been initiated in all three cases under Part 2 of Article 246 and Part 5 of Article 273 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The suspects have been placed in pretrial detention.
