Over 1.8 Billion Soums to Be Recalculated for Overcharged Electricity Tariffs at Bukhara Universities

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Bukhara State University and Bukhara State Medical Institute filed a complaint with the regional office of the Competition Committee regarding the actions of the “Energiyasavdo” branch of JSC “Hududiy Elektr Tarmoqlari” in Bukhara.

An inspection revealed that the educational institutions had been charged inflated electricity tariffs, resulting in additional payments exceeding 1.8 billion soums. Based on these violations, the regional office initiated proceedings through a special commission against the “Energiyasavdo” branch for breaching the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On Competition.”

Following the review, the branch was issued a binding instruction to recalculate the invoices for the two educational institutions totaling over 1.8 billion soums, eliminate the identified violations, and implement measures to prevent similar cases in the future.

It is noted that parties disagreeing with the commission’s decision have the right to appeal to the Appellate Board of the Competition Committee or in court.
