Over 1,090 Babies were Born in Uzbekistan On 1 January 2026: Ferghana Leads
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A total of 1,094 children were born in Uzbekistan on the first day of 2026, according to data provided by the Ministry of Health as of 17:00. Among the newborns are 539 boys and 555 girls.
The highest number of births was recorded in Ferghana Region, where 138 children were born. It is followed by Surkhandarya Region (135), Samarkand (125), Kashkadarya (121) and Namangan (110). The lowest figure was registered in Syrdarya Region, with 19 newborns.
Seventeen multiple births were recorded, including 15 sets of twins, one set of triplets and one case of quadruplets, totalling 37 children. All newborns and their mothers are under medical supervision and receiving the necessary care.
Maternity wards across the country continue to operate as normal during the holidays. A total of 4,913 specialists — obstetricians-gynaecologists, neonatologists, midwives and nurses — are providing services to the population.
The Ministry of Health also published data for previous years: 1,111 children were born on 1 January 2020; 1,086 in 2021; 1,448 in 2022; 1,312 in 2023; 1,043 in 2024; and 1,040 in 2025.
