Over 10 international e-commerce platforms establish offices in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — More than 10 major international e-commerce platforms have opened representative offices in Uzbekistan, according to the National Agency for Perspective Projects.

Their operations have contributed over 160 billion soums in tax payments to the state budget, while the number of self-employed individuals in the e-commerce sector has increased by 55%.

Additionally, foreign marketplaces such as Yandex, Ozon, Wildberries, and Wolt have now localized their operations in Uzbekistan after previously operating without official legal registration.

In December 2024, the Cabinet of Ministers approved new e-commerce regulations, set to take effect on 1 July 2025.

The regulations apply to a broad range of market participants, including marketplaces, order aggregators, digital streaming services, and self-employed individuals such as couriers and taxi drivers.

Under the new requirements, all marketplace operators, order aggregators, and streaming platforms must register as legal entities in Uzbekistan.

Financial transactions, including self-employed income, must be conducted through designated bank accounts. Furthermore, all e-commerce entities are required to register in the official registry and operate under a notification-based system.
