Ousmane Dembélé wins prestigious Ballon d’Or
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — French forward for PSG, Ousmane Dembélé, has been awarded the prestigious Ballon d’Or for 2025, presented by France Football magazine to the best footballer of the season.
Among women, Spanish player Aitana Bonmatí of Barcelona received her third consecutive Ballon d’Or.
The award ceremony took place on Monday at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris.
PSG coach Luis Enrique was recognized as the best male coach of the 2024/25 season; however, he was absent from the ceremony as his team was playing a Ligue 1 match against Marseille. Among female coaches, the award went to Dutch coach Sarina Wiegman, who leads the England national team.
The title of best young male footballer of the season was claimed for the second consecutive year by Spanish player Lamine Yamal of Barcelona. At just 18 years old, he scored 18 goals in 55 matches, won the league, the cup, and the Spanish Super Cup, and also became a European champion and the recipient of the 2024 Golden Boy award. The best young female footballer award went to 19-year-old Vicky López, representing both the Spain national team and Barcelona.
The Lev Yashin Award for best goalkeeper of the season was awarded to Italy’s Gianluigi Donnarumma, while the women’s award went to England’s goalkeeper Hannah Hampton.
France Football recognized French club PSG as the best men’s team, having won the Champions League, the national league, the French Cup, and the French Super Cup, and reached the final of the FIFA Club World Cup. Among women’s teams, the English club Arsenal was named the best.
The top scorer of the season award went to Swedish forward Viktor Djäkeresh, who played last season for Portuguese club Sporting before transferring to Arsenal in the summer.
