OSCE Supports Development of Digital Skills among Women in Karakalpakstan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — More than 150 women in Karakalpakstan have completed training in digital skills under an initiative of the OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Uzbekistan.
Participants from Nukus and surrounding districts learned the basics of IT and computer literacy, as well as gained knowledge in e-commerce and digital marketing, enabling them to develop their own business projects using modern technologies.
The program concluded with an award ceremony held at the Nukus branch of IT Park Uzbekistan, a modern innovation hub that fosters the development of the region’s digital ecosystem.
This initiative marks the fourth joint program of the OSCE and IT Park Uzbekistan since 2022. Over this period, more than 500 women from various regions of the country have received training.
“Empowering women is one of the OSCE’s priorities. Training in digital skills opens new horizons for realizing women’s potential, contributes to the sustainable development of the region, and improves quality of life,” emphasized Antti Karttunen, the OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Uzbekistan.
Participants noted that the training had been an important step in their personal and professional growth.
“For me, this training was a real discovery. Previously, I hardly used a computer, but now I confidently master digital tools, have learned to conduct online sales, and promote products through social media. This gave me not only knowledge, but also the motivation to grow my business and, in the future, create jobs for other women,” shared program participant Mekhrinur Uzakbayeva.
Such initiatives demonstrate how targeted support and access to modern education help women make a meaningful contribution to regional development and shape a sustainable future.
