OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media to Visit Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media, Ambassador Jan Braathu, will make his first official visit to Uzbekistan on 11–12 November 2025.
During his stay in the country, he will meet with high-ranking government officials and representatives of the media sector.
On 13–14 November, the Office of the Representative will organize the 25th Central Asia Media Conference, titled “Ensuring Media Viability for an Informed and Sustainable Society.”
The event will take place at the InterContinental Hotel in Tashkent, beginning at 10:00 a.m.
The conference program includes plenary sessions, interactive workshops, and the presentation of new key resources for journalists.
Key topics will include practical approaches for media in implementing the Media Viability Manifesto, recommendations from the OSCE Representative on safeguarding press freedom in the context of Big Tech platforms and artificial intelligence, journalist safety as a foundation for independent journalism, as well as audience engagement and media literacy as a primary defense against disinformation.
