Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 9 June 2020, at the initiative of the International Secretariat of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization for Security and Cooperation (OSCE PA), a video conference of its leadership was held with the heads of the permanent parliamentary delegations of Central Asian states.

During the video conference, the situation on the prevention of coronavirus infection in Central Asian countries was discussed. An exchange of information on the experience and achievements of each state in combating the COVID-19 infection took place.

In particular, the head of the permanent delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the OSCE PA - Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Z. Nizamkhodjaev spoke and presented information on the ongoing work in the country to prevent the spread of the coronavirus pandemic, social protection of the population, and economic support for business entities.

The videoconference participants highlighted the ongoing and important measures taken, based on international experience, as well as the progress achieved in the country under the leadership of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan to prevent the spread of COVID-19 infection and mitigate its negative impact on the economy.

An agreement was also reached in the near future in accordance with the schedule to hear online reports of the committees of the Parliamentary Assembly on the issues of the OSCE PA agenda.
