OSCE facilitates summer camp for young journalists in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- An OSCE-facilitated media summer camp for young journalists finished in Kibray district of Tashkent province on 21 August 2013.

The ten-day interactive training course, organized in co-operation with the National Association of Electronic Mass Media, was delivered by two experts from the United States and brought together 32 young journalists representing non-governmental TV and radio stations from across Uzbekistan. The training aimed to improve their knowledge and skills in preparing analytical materials based on international experience and modern standards of audio-visual equipment use.

“We hope to help young journalists improve their professional skills in line with the international standards of contemporary journalism,” said Christoph Opfermann, Acting OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Uzbekistan. “The knowledge they have gained will help to eventually improve the broadcasting and investigative reporting standards of the regional media.”

The summer camp is part of a larger project designed to assist to the National Association of Electronic Mass Media of Uzbekistan in improving the skills of young journalists in the regions.
