Orphans Have Been Granted Personalized Deposit Accounts of US$500 under the “Presidential Christmas Tree” Program In Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — By the directive of the President, this year, as part of the “Presidential Christmas Tree” initiative, a decision was made to open personalized deposit accounts for children in addition to traditional New Year gifts. This measure is intended to provide them with a first step and a small but meaningful contribution toward their future.

Alongside customary gifts, children received targeted financial support through the opening of personalized deposit accounts, designed to serve as initial capital for their future independent lives.

More than 8,000 orphans and children without parental care, aged 0 to 17, have received such accounts. Each account has been funded by the state with US$500. The funds will grow annually through capitalization, and the child will be able to access them upon reaching the age of 18.

Simultaneously, children from the age of nine, along with their legal representatives, were issued social cards. These cards are intended to ensure convenience and transparency in receiving social support. The card allows access to subsidized public transport, payment for goods and services, and verification of identity and eligibility for assistance.

All operations are available for monitoring via the Baraka mobile application.

These measures target children in need of special state support: orphans and children without parental care, residents of orphanages, family and small-scale children’s homes, SOS Children’s Villages, children of deceased servicemen, as well as patients of the pediatric oncology hospital at the Taskin hospice.

For children receiving treatment at the Taskin hospice, a special procedure has been established for using the funds: if necessary, the funds can be transferred to a bank card at any time upon request of their legal representatives.

The implementation of this initiative aims to enhance social protection for children and provide a financial foundation for their future.
