One Person Killed in Gas Explosion at Residential Building in Kokand — Uzbekistan Emergency Ministry

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — One person has been killed following a gas-air mixture explosion in an apartment building in Kokand, the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Uzbekistan reports.

The victim's body was discovered under rubble during the emergency response and clearance operation.

The alert was received on 25 February at 14:47 by the Fergana Regional Emergency Management Department via the 112 emergency hotline. The explosion occurred in the Buston mahalla. Emergency response units arrived promptly at the scene and contained and fully extinguished the resulting fire in the shortest possible time.

According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the circumstances of the incident are being established, and work is ongoing to ensure the safety of residents and address the aftermath of the explosion.
