On the first day of 2026, 1,815 babies were born in Uzbekistan, Ministry of Health reports

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On the first day of the new year, 1,815 newborns came into the world in Uzbekistan, according to the Ministry of Health. Among them were 894 girls and 921 boys.

The Ministry noted that this figure exceeds the number of births in the first day of 2021, when 1,644 children were born, as well as in 2025, which saw 1,641 births. At the same time, it is lower than in 2022, with 2,316 newborns, 2023 — 2,155, and 2024 — 1,859 children.

The highest number of newborns was recorded in Surkhandarya Region, with 243 children. It was followed by Ferghana Region with 216 newborns and Namangan Region with 194.

In Kashkadarya and Samarkand Regions, 191 births were registered in each, in Andijan Region — 157, in the city of Tashkent — 143, and in Tashkent Region — 129.

Bukhara Region recorded 85 newborns, Jizzakh — 76, Khorezm — 65, Navoi — 55, and the Republic of Karakalpakstan — 41, while the lowest number was in Syrdarya Region, with 29 newborns.

Seventeen multiple-birth cases were registered, totaling 37 children, including 30 from twins, three from triplets, and four from quadruplets.
