Omsk Region and Uzbekistan Advance Industrial Cooperation: Engineering Center to Be Established in Bukhara

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A delegation from the Republic of Uzbekistan, including representatives of government bodies, industrial enterprises, and the scientific community, is currently on a working visit to the Omsk Region, the press service of the regional governor and government reports.

The Uzbek delegation visited several industrial facilities and Omsk State Technical University, and on the eve held a working meeting with the regional governor, Vitaly Khotsenko.

During the talks, the parties discussed projects previously agreed upon during a visit of a Russian intergovernmental delegation to Uzbekistan. At that time, the Governor of Omsk Region took part in a meeting between President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan and First Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Denis Manturov with representatives of the business community.

As a result, it was decided to establish an engineering center in Bukhara and partially localize production of the Omsk Innovative Technologies Plant (OmZIT) on Uzbek territory.

Negotiations in Omsk with the delegation led by Bukhara hokim (regional governor) Kurbon Tursunov focused on concrete steps and timelines for implementing these initiatives.

According to Vitaly Khotsenko, the key factor for success will be the readiness of Omsk enterprises to participate in modernizing Uzbekistan’s energy infrastructure and developing joint technological solutions.

Uzbekistan remains one of Omsk Region’s main partners in Central Asia: over the past year, bilateral trade grew by more than 40%, providing a foundation for further expansion of cooperation.
