Omonkuton Village in Samarkand Region Transformed into a “Tourist Village”
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A ceremonial opening of the new tourist village “Omonkuton” was held in the Urgut district of the Samarkand region.
The event was attended by Deputy Chairman of the Tourism Committee Sardor Niyazov, representatives of regional and district authorities, the local community, and media representatives.
In their remarks, participants highlighted the growing attention being paid to tourism development in Samarkand. It was noted that ongoing reforms in the region aim to create modern tourism infrastructure and contribute to the economic growth of local areas, particularly through the establishment of tourist villages.
Omonkuton mahalla, the largest in Samarkand region by area, has long attracted a significant number of visitors.
During the summer months, the village receives between 5,000 and 10,000 tourists and vacationers daily. This is largely due to its unique natural landscape: picturesque mountains, a favorable climate, and pristine spring water create a special ambiance.
To improve convenience and service quality for visitors, local infrastructure has been upgraded. Today, tourists can choose from a wide range of accommodation options — more than 50 family-run guesthouses, capsule hotels, and other service facilities offer a comfortable nature-based experience.
