Obod Mahalla Programme helps to repair roads and roofs in Tashkent

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Implementation of a programme “Obod Mahalla” has been started in Tashkent in late May 2018. According to the administration of the capital, over 56,000 people positively assessed this program.

Within the framework of the program, a certain site was selected in each mahalla, where works were carried out to improve the territory.

The main points of upgrading were the reconstruction of internal roads and sidewalks, as well as their asphalting; landscaping of the territory; renovation of building facades and roofs; construction of playgrounds; improvement of street lighting and the establishment of house signs.

Within the framework of the programme in Tashkent, 20,920 square meters of sidewalks and internal roads were asphalted and 30,610 roofs were renewed.

Also 726 pieces of pointers and 197 street lamps were installed. About 3,360 square meters of territory for car parks was created.

About 2,900 square meters of children’s playgrounds and 2,250 square meters of football fields were built as well.

Over thousand people helped to improve the territories of mahallas (neighborhood). Thanks to the improvement of the mahallas, the circulation of residents from nearby houses increased by 37%.

For example, in the makhalla of Uchtepa district, you can find a separately designated area for ambulances. The installation of street lights led to a reduction in crime and hooliganism in the yards.

The construction of new playgrounds and football fields gives another positive response. Now, young people can spend more time in the open air, play development games, communicate with their peers and less distracted by gadgets.

It should also be noted that during the implementation of the programme from the Khokimiyat of Tashkent city, an analysis of the work was carried out and certain shortcomings and errors were identified. In this regard, when implementing the Program in subsequent facilities, all these points will be taken into account.
