Number of population in Uzbekistan to reach 31.5m by 2015
He said that during independence years economy of Uzbekistan rose five times and GDP per capita jumped by 8.7 times.
He said that number of population rose by 1.5 times during this time and as of 1 January 2015 number of population of Uzbekistan will make up 31.5 million.
Karimov said that there are over 2.783 million people at the age of over 60. The average age of population rose from 67 in 19990 to 73.5 now. The average life of women makes up 75.8 years.
Currently, some 225,000 people at the age of over 80 are living in Uzbekistan, 44,000 – at the age of over 90 and 8,700 – at the age of over 100. Uzbek leader said that there are also 3,109 participants of the World War II and 69,994 veterans of labour front.
