Number of operating small enterprises reaches 289,700 units

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- As of 1 April 2019, the number of operating small enterprises and microfirms in Uzbekistan made up 289,700 units, which is 21.4% more compared to the same period of 2018. This was reported by the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan.

In January-March 2019, the number of newly created subjects of small enterprises and microfirms was more than 30,400 units, which is 17,200 units more than the same period of last year.

About 83,100 (28.7%) of the enterprises operate in trade sector, 61,800 units (21.4%) - industry, 31,400 units (10.8%) - construction, 25,400 units (8.8%) - agriculture, forestry and fisheries, 21,600 units (7.4%) - accommodation and food services, 13,900 units (4.8%) - transportation and storage services, 7,000 units (2.4%) - information and communication, 5,600 units (1.9%) - health and social services, and 39,900 units (13.8%) – other sectors.

If we consider the number of contributions made by enterprises by type of economic activity, the largest part is accounted for trade - 13304 units, industry - 6444 units, construction - 2789 units, agriculture, forestry and fisheries - 1835 units. The smallest number falls on health care and the provision of social services - 297 units, information and communication - 366 units, and also on transportation and storage - 879 units.

A significant part of the total number of newly created small businesses falls on the city of Tashkent (6304 units), Samarkand (2940 units), Tashkent (2856 units) and Fergana (2851 units) regions. Their smallest part was recorded in Syrdarya (789 units), Navoi (889 units) regions and the Republic of Karakalpakstan (1280 units).

If we consider the number of operating family enterprises by type of economic activity, their main share is accounted for industry - 36.6%, or 6819 units, accommodation and food services - 21.9%, or 4081 units, trade - 19.4 %, or 3615 units, agriculture, forestry and fisheries - 10.1%, or 1888 units, construction - 1.2%, or 217 units, transportation and storage - 1.1%, or 196 units, health care and social services - 1.0%, or 188 units, information and communication - 0.9%, or 168 units and other spheres  - 7.8%, or 1462 units.
