Number of operating small enterprises and micro-firms exceeds 242,500 units

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- As of 1 May 2018, the number of operating small enterprises and micro-firms in the country was 242,500 units, which rose by 7.7% year-on-year.

The State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan said the main part of operating small enterprises and micro-firms belongs to Tashkent city – 54,700 units (22.6%), Tashkent region – 23,200 units (9.6%), Ferghana region – 21,400 units (8.8%) and Andijan region – 21,200 units (8.7%).

Of the total number of operating small enterprises and micro-firms by economic activity the share of trade made up 65,800 units (27.1%), industry – 51,000 units (21.0%), construction – 25,900 units (10.7%), agriculture, forestry and fishing – 21,800 units (9.0%), accommodation and food services – 17.900 units (7.4%), transportation and storage services – 12,300 units (5.1%), information and communication – 6,300 units (2.6%), human health and social work activities – 4,700 units (1.9%), as well as other activity – 36,800 units (15.2%).

From this it can be seen that the most part of operating small enterprises and micro-firms falls on industry and trade, the smallest one - human health and social work activities, as well as information and communication.

In January-April 2018, the number of newly created small businesses and micro-firms made up over 18,000 units, which is 3.4% more than in the same period of the last year.

A significant part of the total newly created small enterprises is marked in Tashkent city (4,133 units), Tashkent region (1,814 units), Samarkand region (1,532 units) and Ferghana region (1,422 units), the smallest one - in Syrdarya region (494 units), Khorezm region (612 units) and Navoi region (693 units).

The largest part of newly created small enterprises falls on trade – 4,221 units, industry – 3,979 units, agriculture, forestry and fishing -2,346 units, construction – 2,265 units, the smallest one - on human health and social work activities - 460 units, information and communication - 481 units, as well as transportation and storage - 741 units.
