Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- As of 10:00 on 25 April 2020, the number of cases of coronavirus infection reached 1836 people in Uzbekistan.
Head of the State Inspectorate of Sanitary and Epidemiological Surveillance under the Cabinet of Ministers, Chief State Sanitary Inspector of the Republic Nurmat Otabekov said:
- In our country, the number of registered patients with coronavirus infection is 1836 people. In accordance with the information received from the Research Institute of Virology, 30 out of 103 patients treated in the clinic of the institute have clinical signs of pneumonia, the condition of 2 patients is assessed as severe, and one is critical. Of 66 patients undergoing treatment at the Research Institute of Epidemiology, Microbiology and Infectious Diseases, the condition of 2 patients is assessed as serious. Of the 145 patients treated in the multidisciplinary clinic of the Tashkent Medical Academy, 47 have clinical signs of pneumonia, 3 are assessed as severe, and one is critical. Under the project, with the assistance of the World Bank, about US$38 million will be spent on improving the national healthcare system in the field of supervision , prevention and control of the spread of coronavirus infection. They will also be used to purchase personal protective equipment, medicines, and vital medical equipment, including mechanical ventilation devices, to equip hospitals where patients infected with coronavirus are treated.
