Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- An agreement on cooperation between the Republican Council of the Oil and Gas and Geology Workers Union of Uzbekistan and the Russian Union of Atomic Energy and Industry (RPRAEP) was signed in Tashkent.
The document is aimed at realizing the goals of the trade union movement and is intended to promote the development of social and labor relations and the participation of organizations of the nuclear energy industry in social and other socially significant projects. The parties agreed to exchange experience and information in order to promote the development of social partnership in the energy sector.
One of the joint activities implemented under the agreement should be an international seminar on safety culture and the organization of public control on labor protection in Samarkand in May 2020.
The beginning for the interaction of Uzbek and Russian trade unions was the intergovernmental agreement signed in September 2018 on the construction of a nuclear power plant in Uzbekistan.
In April 2019, at the invitation of the RPRAEP, a delegation of Uzbekistan visited Moscow. The program of the visit included meetings with trade union activists and a visit to the Leningrad NPP.
During the Russian delegation to Uzbekistan, a whole series of meetings and negotiations took place, the main topics of which were training of specialists, a safety culture, labor protection and social guarantees for nuclear workers. The Russian professional leader met with trade union activists of Samarkand, Bukhara and Tashkent, representatives of the Uzatom agency, and also visited the first foreign branch of NRNU MEPhI in Tashkent.
