New Youth IT Center Opens in Ferghana Region
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A new youth center aimed at fostering IT skills, providing access to modern resources, and encouraging civic engagement was officially opened on 31 October 2025 in the Tashlak district of the Ferghana region.
The center was established as part of a large-scale initiative to empower young people, implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) with financial support from the Government of Japan.
The project is being carried out in cooperation with the Fergana regional administration (khokimiyat), the Youth Affairs Agency of Uzbekistan, and the Regional Center for Digital Technologies. The opening ceremony was attended by Sherzodjon Polvonov, Deputy Khokim of Fergana Region, and Akiko Fujii, UNDP Resident Representative in Uzbekistan.
Given that nearly 60 percent of Uzbekistan’s population is under the age of 30, the creation of such centers plays a vital role in supporting an active, educated, and innovative young generation. The new center offers opportunities for learning, mentorship, and the use of digital tools, fostering entrepreneurship, innovation, and civic participation.
In addition to educational programs, the center provides capacity-building workshops, free legal assistance, as well as psychological and psychosocial support for vulnerable groups. Trainers and experts from both local and international organizations are involved in designing and delivering the programs, ensuring a comprehensive and modern approach to youth development.
