New Tashkent–Hangzhou Flight Boosts Connectivity
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 31 March, a new regular flight between Tashkent and Hangzhou was inaugurated at Xiaoshan International Airport in Hangzhou, operated by Qanot Sharq, the Uzbek airline, according to IA “Dunyo.”
The route aims to expand air connectivity between Uzbekistan and China and strengthen both tourism and business ties. Representatives from the airline, the Uzbek Consulate General, and the airport management attended the opening ceremony.
The service is scheduled twice weekly, on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Since November 2024, Uzbekistan Airways has also been operating the route, and the addition of Qanot Sharq is expected to increase passenger capacity and improve accessibility.
Chinese officials highlighted that direct flights create new opportunities for trade, economic cooperation, and cultural exchange. Hangzhou is a major economic and technological hub in China, particularly influential in e-commerce, while Xiaoshan International Airport, which served over 50 million passengers in 2025, ranks among the largest aviation hubs in East China.
Uzbek authorities emphasized that the new flight will boost tourism, providing Uzbeks easier access to Chinese regions while enabling Chinese tourists to visit Uzbekistan’s cultural and historical sites more conveniently.
The route also strengthens Tashkent’s role as an international aviation hub, enhances its transit potential, and improves transport links between Europe and Asia.
