New railway station commissioned
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- In order to increase the volume of traffic between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan, to carry out large-scale work on transit cargo transportation, maintenance and repair of cars on the border between the two countries, a new station, Surhanabad, was commissioned.
At the opening ceremony, it was emphasized that this new interstate butt point (MGPP) will play a role, a kind of “new gate” connecting our countries.
Until today, transit traffic in southern Uzbekistan was carried out through the Boldir station, which is located on the territory of the Republic of Turkmenistan. Now, export-import cargo transportation operations will be serviced at the new station.
All conditions are created here. Including for implementation of customs and other types of control on the railway section crossing the state border.
The new railway station, the project of which was developed by the specialists of BOSHTRANSLOYIHA, was built by Termiz Machsus Kurilish. 34 thousand cubic meters of earthworks were carried out here, the territory is enclosed with a fence around the perimeter of about 4 kilometers.
The Surkhanabad station plays an important role in increasing the turnover, export-import services between the two countries. At the same time, the station aims to support and develop small business and private entrepreneurship. However, most importantly, it will serve to strengthen good-neighborly relations between the peoples of our countries.
