According to the Uzbek Foreign Ministry, Zafar Nurmatov has been appointed Head of the Department for Cooperation with CIS Countries, including Russia.

Prior to this appointment, Zafar Nurmatov headed the division in this department.

In this position he replaced Alisher Agzamhodjaev, who was appointed as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Uzbekistan to Turkey.
